As we all work to navigate a new normal in our daily lives, the OC Polo Club continues to find "new normals" to allow for safe, fun family polo and lessons. We are grateful that our favorite pastime, riding horses and playing polo, is something we can do outdoors at a safe distance with our family and friends.Currently, we are unable to have large crowds, but we are able to host club tournaments, polo lessons and intimate custom polo experiences for your private groups. While summer plans are typically full of travel, it has been nice to spend more time in the saddle just enjoying the ranch and our ponies. Normally, at this time of year we'd be playing in the famous "Pacific Coast Arena League" across Southern California. Instead, we've shifted gears to have a little fun at home with our intramural tournament - the "Rona Classic". Check out the recap below...See you at polo,
POLO IN THE TIME OF COVID
aka "pandemic polo"
'RONA CLASSICWe had almost as much fun coming up with creative team names riffing on the pandemic as we did playing the polo! Here you can see team "Social D" with their custom jerseys.The tournament opened with a draw on Thursday night where the teams were announced and they then picked their team names and determined the matchups for the first round of games.Matches began the following Sunday. LESSONS IN FULL SWINGIt's never too early or too late to start polo! Lessons are available for all ages and experience levels.Private lessons provide one-on-one instruction with a USPA certified polo instructor. New students start here, and they are also a great opportunity for the more advanced player to work on specific riding and playing goals.
GROUP LESSONS
Once a new student has mastered the basics, they can move onto the group lesson. Here the students will begin to simulate playing in practices at a speed appropriate for learning the fundamentals of polo, with the support and coaching of an instructor.
YOUTH LESSONS
Youth lessons are available for children as young as 6 years old. Students learn a safe foundation for riding and the importance of taking great care of their four-legged friends. The future of polo is BRIGHT!!
